The Hall Farm Barn is a diversification of the family business, farming cattle and sheep, the farm is an Organic family hill farm still operating in the traditional ways. The barn is situated about 1km above the farm house.
The Barn welcomes all, for that quiet weekend away, to a family week together. The barn is family oriented and perfect for young children and families, with a cot and highchair available.
A year on the farm

Hall Farm, nestling on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain,
The farm produces 900 organic lambs a year. Indoor lambing starts as early as Christmas, with Dorset Poll ewes, followed by Suffolk cross ewes and on March 1st the Welsh ewes lamb out of doors. By the beginning of May, the hill ewes are grazing the Sugar Loaf Mountain. The hill gate is the last gate at the end of the farm - people staying at the barn have the privilege of using the same gate. On the last weekend of June, the hill flock are gathered for shearing, the ewe lambs return to the mountain with their mothers and the ram lambs are weaned to be sold as Welsh lamb.

The beef cattle graze free range. However, when it’s wet and cold they have large modern covered yards to winter in.

From May to July it’s a race to secure sufficient grazing for the new mothers with their lambs, to keep large tracts of grazing for the cows and calves, and also to provide the winter food in the form of summer grass for the vast quantities of silage all the animals eat to see the winter through.

Local contractors shear some of the sheep. The wool is transported to Brecon as organic wool to be sold on to woollen manufacturers. The ploughing and planting and ensiling of the winter silage is carried out by local contractors.
